I use Adobe Photoshop 7 to make all my artwork; it's quite dated really but it does the job. I often ponder over upgrading but then I see the prices and decide its absolutely fine as is LOL.

There are lots of softwares out there that do the same thing. You might even have something on your HD that works. Paint is another popular one and so is Gimp (though if you use this I would suggest you check you program files and remove whatever annoying ads they hid in their download), both are free.
