RDA does a great job of projecting Jack's pain in this episode, this scene in particular really pulls at the heart strings...well, and the one at the end where Charlie touches him. And you're right, we'd never see such raw anguish from the real Jack even though we all know it's there beneath the surface.
I think b/w or desaturated pieces always ramp up the anguish and make a piece more powerful. It's surprising how much of a difference it makes. Thanks for letting me know which one worked best for you.
